Latigo Dude Ranch
When you think of a dude ranch, do you think of horses, cattle, campfires, fishing, dancing, a rec room, delicious meals in a family style setting…….plus incredible views and thousands of acres to explore? Well look no more!
At 9,000 feet in elevation on the outskirts of Kremmling, Colorado is the Latigo Ranch, a member of the Dude Ranch Association. My Latigo experience happened during the winter, where cross country skiing, sledding, snow shoeing and fun in the amazing recreation room was just part of each perfect day.
As much I enjoyed this breathtaking winter wonderland with owners Mr. & Mrs. Jim Yost and Mr. & Mrs. Randy George, who you can tell enjoy the ranch just as much today as when they purchased it in 1987, there was always that intrigue of what a summer at Latigo must be like.
Limiting guest capacity to only 35, keeps the week long summer of fun comfortable for all that attend. No one will get lost in big noisy crowds, yet just enough people so that if a few decide to hang out and relax for a day or two it doesn’t disrupt all of the ranch activities.
Latigo’s lodging is a pleasant variety of ranch houses, all comfortable and all offering stunning views. The three meals a day are family style, with plenty of healthy delicious food for seconds if the ranch life stirs up a major appetite.
The recreation room has a huge area for parties, pool table, ping pong table, library, hot tub, TV for movies and a sweeping patio with views of the ranch and Continental Divide.
As my trip consisted of a winter experience, I still can guarantee that spending a week during the summer will fulfill your dude ranch wishes, one where you’ll make lifelong friends and as many do, return year after year!
