My Experience:

Whether you call this luxury seaside resort the Hotel Del Coronado, the Hotel Del, or simply the Del, each name represents the same magnificent property.

Constructed of all wood in 1888, the Hotel Del is a step back in time to an era of private rail cars for the rich, movies, presidents and celebrities. This timeless Victorian styled award winning resort offers a unique taste of luxury with the Pacific Ocean on one side and Glorietta Bay on the other.

I found the Hotel Del to be relaxing, yet invigorating with the board walk, the excitement of the beaches and constant chatter of foreign languages all around me. For many, staying at the Del is like going to a one of a kind amusement park. Everywhere you look, you’ll see intricate wood work that you didn’t see before.

The hotels private beach, compliment the huge 80 degree swimming pool. There is a variety of restaurants to choose from, a spa, daily activities and plenty to keep the kids busy.

Located on the island which is also a community, take a stroll into town and be treated like a local. You won’t find t-shirt company after t-shit company, or stores filled with useless stuff. You will find locally owned clothing boutiques, libraries, museums and restaurants. Or hop in the car and drive 10 minutes to Seaport Village in San Diego, a fun day trip to complete your Hotel Del adventure.

I find the Del to be magical, and a resort I would visit time after time. The Hotel Del is known for so many wonderful things, from weddings to the famous Sunday brunch. Because of all of the international travelers, celebrities don’t stand out – so you never know who is sitting next to you.

What does stand out is the resort, the true mega-star, with a fascinating history. Enjoy the pod casts of the show. My guests include Executive Pastry Chef Daphne Higa, Hotel Del Historian Christine Donovan, Wayne Harth Director of Special Events and Megan Madrigal from Seaport Village.

Life certainly is a beach at the Hotel Del Coronado Resort.
